NiP is undoubtedly the most memorable CS:GO team of 2013, but since their loss in DreamHack Winter grand final and the ending of their TV show, Patrick "f0rest" Lindberg and his mates kept low profile.
This is why early 2014 is a key period for the Swedish players. In fact, after putting all of their efforts into beating ex-VeryGames at DreamHack Winter, the defeat against Fnatic in grand final of the first CS:GO major tournament alerted Christopher "GeT_RiGhT" Alesund and his team mates.
As a response to this disillusion, GeT_RiGhT took the lead for a brief moment, allowing Richard "Xizt" Landström to focus more on his crosshair after leading the team for almost a year. With a play style relying on individualities, Xizt leading style didn't seem to be enough to bring back the NiP domination to the scene.
Giving the lead to GeT_RiGhT seemed to be a good solution as they managed to bring the SveCup 2013 trophy home. But the team decided to step back by giving the lead to Robin "Fifflaren" Johansson, NiP original leader when they started CS:GO.
Criticized by many for being less skilled than his team mates, Fifflaren finally gained recognition and is now seen as one of the strongest men of his team. Complete player, occasional sniper, his stats aren't always impressive, but he has an important role for his team both ingame and in real life.
This is why we wanted to know how Fifflaren version 2014 was apprehending taking back the lead.
Hi Robin, first, I would like you to guide us through your DreamHack preparation and give us some insight how the recording of the TV6 show was. What do you remember specifically from this period? Looking back would you say that the recording of the TV show had a good impact on your training or not? Fifflaren, the TV star. Now that you are ingame leader again. Why did you go back to the position you filled back in 2012 when NiP started? What would you say is the key difference between your leading style and the style of Xizt? Can NiP be crowned at the EMS Katowice? When watching NiP there is always a point of uncertainty, the sniper position. It could be said that you share this position with f0rest depending on the map and position. Will this change now that you are in-game leader again?I wouldn't really say that we have a set sniper in our team. Sometimes I might buy it, sometimes forest might buy it, or even get_right. It really depends on the map and the situation, on some maps we don't even use a sniper. So that won't change now that I took over. We will buy what suits the situation the most, it might be an AWP, or it might be a rifle. Thank you for replying to our questions, as per usual the last words belong to you. Thanks for the interview! Shoutout to our fans and to our sponsors. Also we sure to check out our new homepage www.nip.gl ! |
